E-Session | Isabel + Jude | Lundu & Sematan

Isabel + Jude... "We were in the same Kindergarten but didn't know about it, when to the same ads math tuition class but never talks, got enlisted to the same NS (National Services) training center and get together after NS", as they both few me in about their journey while meeting up for coffee. Jude later said "She made me be myself and bring out the best of me"...

Hui & Kelvin pre wedding photos highlight. Blessed to be showered with good weather on the day of the shoot. We were sort of having a road trip with a few pit stop from Kuching to Lundu then overnight at Sematan. Here are few of my favorite images.

Caren + Matt Wedding Elopement & Holidays | Queensland, Australia

This gonna be a long photos stories post, be warned! Back in 2017, Caren call to ask if Hui Hui & I be able to join them in Cairns for holidays and for something else which is "To photograph Matt & Her wedding elopement somewhere in Queensland and Hui Hui & I will also be the witness together with Lowan and Marli". I promised to keep this a secret and not even Caren's Mum know about it.

Wedding | Karen + Darryl | Sydney

How Darryl & Karen met were somewhat bit like a story in a short drama called "Love At First Swipe".  Their friend introduce them an online dating apps called "Coffee Meets Bagel", from there they befriended each other. From the apps, they have common friend even though from a different church. On their first date for coffee, they end up taking a hike. That just bit of the story of how it begin.

E-Session | Elvynna + Godric | Lundu & Sematan

Elvynna & Godric truly are amazingly couple deeply in love with each other. Again, we head to Lundu & Sematan for an overnight session and we are blessed with an amazing night skies though getting the shots done at somewhat un-amazing bridge construction site. 

E-Session | Caryn + Julian | Kuching, Lundu & Sematan

Caryn + Julian  are both super fun, loving and outdoor person. Its was seriously a lot of chemical and laughter throughout the session. Its was so much fun that after the session around Kuching ended, I ask if they would like to tour Lundu & Sematan the next morning added that we head there early.

Sematan Town, a very laid back seaside town.

Back in Kuching (our hometown) after traveling to Bali and few day stay at Kuala Lumpur, Hui Hui and I went to Sematan Town. Yes, I bet you had heard/read my previous blog posting of this little town. Am not bored of coming here really :)

This little town has been an inspiration for my photography. Its also a town where I found "ME". Me referring to what I really wanted to show in my images :) Thought I discovered that about 3 year ago, now I came back to practice what I learned while in Bali attending Fearless Photographers Conference. Needless to said, I found lots of new perspective in this little town that we visited lots.

Street | Jonker Walks, Malacca

Jonker Streets/Walks, Malacca. We stop by at Kuala Lumpur visiting friend for few days after Bali trip. Our friend, Pooi Yee offer us a place to stay at her home and took us to Malacca for a day trip. Its was a fun day, lots to see and eat.

Fearless Photographers Conference Bali 2014

I jumped excitedly and told Hui Hui, "we're going to Bali in August". Booked our flight ticket, accommodation in Bali and a seat at Fearless Conference once the date for the conference was announced.

My philosophy for photography has always been having fun & capturing moments and pushing hard to be a better photographer. Self improvement was necessary thus I enrolled. Frankly, the conference was one of the best I did for myself and what I learned was invaluable.

Ubud - Street - Culture - Paddy Field

Ubud -  Last year we visited Ubud and just fell in love with this place. This year, we come back again and staying longer just so we can do bit of exploration. Checking in at Bliss Spa & Bungalow, this place were surrounded by paddy field. So peaceful...

We rented motorbike and ride around. Its was fun to do since I haven't ride a motorbike for more than 10 years. The food & culture were fascinating. At one point when we were at Ubud Market, we just people watching. Glad to finally tasted Naughty Nuri's Warung BBQ ribs, amazing how it taste.

From Ubud, we visited Teras Tegalalang & Kintamani again, yet again the paddy has been harvested. Venturing down the field was great experience but beware to be asked for donation.  Next trip will go to Kintamani early for the sunrise.

Barong dance was interesting to watch, the music tune were equally awesome to hear. From there we went to Kuta as mm attending Fearless Photographers Bali.

2014 Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF)

RWMF 2014!! 25th year in the running, Sarawak Cultural Village has been the home for the annual Rainforest Wold Music Festival. This year, Hui Hui & I were given an entrance ticket each and we had chosen to go for the Saturday event. Thanks you from the bottom of our hearth, you know who you're if you are reading this blog post.

Before heading up, we stop by at black bean for coffee boost. heading up, we parked our car at One Hotel Santubong then take a shuttle bus to Sarawak Cultural Village which is just about 3 minutes ride. We headed directly to Iban Long house as the afternoon music workshop already started. I must said it again, if one attending RWMF without going to the music workshop, you didn't truly experience the heritage of RWMF bring to you.

Baby Lowan

Lowan turned 1 year old while we were in Perth for a short holidays. He is such an adorable boy, the morning that he saw us walking into his play room he look at us with weird face. After few minutes he showing us around the house. 

Before the trip, I reminded myself to photographed Lowan and of cause together with Matt & Caren in the most candid way possible as I wanted to put the images into Album when I got back from the trip. That will be Lowan's belated birthday present :)

Trip Down to Perth, Australia

PERTH | There are so many things to said and write of Perth but I don't know where to begin with, I will just have to said I like Perth and share few of images from the short holidays. Its just seem like yesterday that we got back from Perth.

We stay at Caren's house and really enjoy the surrounding. All sorts of birds mainly parrots(too bad didn't bring along my tele-lens), we even had a chance to see bandicoot and possum just right outside the house.

Dixie Day Out to Pandan Beach, Lundu.

Dixie Day Out!!! Its has been quiet of late here in my blog... Last night before turning into bed, I told myself that I must update my blog with a post. What to post, wedding from recent work? No... I need a little timeout from that. So I came to this post!

Dixie Day Out! Back in Nov 2013, we (Hui Hui, Dixie & I) had a family outing to Pandan Beach, Lundu just to chill and taking few self portraits of us but I forgotten to bring along tripod. Still managed to get few keepers and having a great time at the beach :) Both of them has play an important part in me and has been an inspirations.

Ah Yong | The Seasonal Durian Vendor in Kuching

Durian.... Some said its the King of all fruits, some love them and some not. If you love them, you will be hooked by it smell. Like me, I was tempted by the smell and its lead to me Ah Yong's Durian store at first corner shop of Main Bazaar near waterfront when I drove by his store to get to Black Bean Coffee.

Ah Yong sell ABC & Kantong when Durian are not in season. He jokingly said that ABC & Kantong will not be available for few month probably after Chinese New Year. I bought some Durian from Ah Yong which then we chatted and he told me the durian are from a village after Serian Town. Then I asked him something which I've been wanting to document since a year ago. So I asked "Can I follow you tomorrow to photograph while you collecting Durian from the vilagers?" He look at his wife then answer me "Yes you can but we are departing to destination at 4.50am). What a wildcard moment for me!!! we exchange number so I can call to arrange where to meet up the next morning.

Short Break to Sematan Town from July & August.

July & August 2013, we went to Sematan Town a number of time. Well, its our favorite weekend getaway destination and also my favorite place to go fishing together with my captain who live at sematan town.

This blog post are the collection of photo from my trip to Sematan back in July & August 2013. We check out Dynawood beach stay back in July and decided we must stay there for its farm style beach stay. Then in August, I went out fishing on Asym's Boat together with friends before Hari Raya. On Hari Raya, I make a trip up again to visit Asym house and photograph hisfamily portraits as well. Too bad its raining cats & dogs that day. Else can have outdoor family portraits rather than in the house.

Bali | Tegalalang Rice Terrace & Tirta Empul Temple | Day 2

Day 2 |  After breakfast, our guide (Bang Igo Bali/Kadet) came pick us up and we went
straight to Tegalalang Rice Terrace in Ubud. On the way, he told us that the paddy might be already harvested which turn out true. The sight and scene of it are still awesome... if come at dawn would be really nice as well. Will make a come back trip next round as this trip purely just to sight seeing and relax.

Next we went to Tirta Empul Temple at Tampaksiring. Heard of this place lots of time and viewed on TV in a show by Samantha Brown, and so i make this place a must go to see. Being there to see it really tell you lots more than what you hear and saw on TV. The histories and the culture of the people just an attraction itself.

Travel | Pandan Beach, Lundu.

Pandan Beach, Lundu! yeap... its been a while since the last visit. But this beautiful beach which I can said its one of the best in Kuching has its own unique attraction. This trip just mainly to chill and relax while enjoying the breeze and also checking out a new possible birding spot which found fruitful. The only problem is the tree bit too high and finding the birds with the same color as the leaves seriously not easy.

Beauty & The Feast | Editorial Shoots for KINO

Beauty & The Feast | As the title said it! This editorial assignment for Kuching In & Out (KINO) was a real adventure. We departed from Kuching early around 6.30am toward Kampung Sadir where Saloma's place were and managed to found it after stopping by to ask the villager along the way. That really was an experience and view view just breathtaking which I wish I stopped to snap it. You can read KINO's second issue HERE which this shoots was featured.

Arriving Saloma's place, I went scouting around her house/villagestay to a spot to photographed her in. The stairways leading to her house just caught my eyes as the light just awesome with the welcoming greenery sort of wrapping around it. I must remind myself to snap behind the scene photo for next assignment. Portraits of Saloma's were done pretty quick which only requires 1 flash gun be used to fill the shadow side of her face. This photo was chosen as its just show her personality.

Rock On 4

2013 Rock On... 4 fall on 24th to 26th May. Andy (picture above: Red pointed newly bolted climb)  has make a come back to climb here in every Rock On event yearly if I'm not mistaken. Few weeks before the event taking place. I did a little asking around in fb to find out if participant from previous year making a plan to attend Rock On 4, few did and glad to meet them up at the wall.

We departing from Kuching right before noon, reaching Batman Wall we were greeted by familiar face. It has been a while since the last trip here at the Wall. Let alone photographing climbers climbing. With intel from Alex of Andy where about, we headed to the wall left to the batman wall (yes, there are new wall been cleaned and bolted namely tiger wall, orchid wall).
